Are your headlights looking foggy and hazy? You might have noticed reduced visibility at night or during rainy weather. Don’t worry you don’t need to replace them or open up the lens, as many assume. The haziness is usually on the outside, and we can help restore them to their original clarity.
The DetailingSanctuary Headlight Restoration Process
1.
Use Sanding Pads on a Machine Polisher
The first round of sanding is where the oxidization is removed. You'll see a lot of slurry come off.
3.
Polish the headlights
Finally, we'll refine the cutting step to bring out maximum clarity with a light polish and polishing pad.
2.
Compound the headlights
Using a cutting disc, compound, and machine polisher, we'll remove the sanding marks.
4.
Protect the headlights
For protection, we'll apply a 1-year ceramic coating. This will provide durable protection.
We start by sanding your headlights to remove the old, oxidized layer of clear coat that causes the yellow, foggy appearance. Next, we compound and polish them to restore their like-new clarity. To finish, we apply a 1-year ceramic coating for long-lasting protection.
Please Note: We no longer offer headlight restorations as a standalone service. It must be paired with at least one other service.

Headlight Restoration FAQ
How long does this service take?
The duration depends on the size and condition of your headlights, typically ranging from 45 to 90 minutes. If the condition is severe, it may take longer.
Can you restore any headlights?
While we can significantly improve the appearance of most headlights, there are cases where severe damage may limit the results. Your headlights will look better after the service, but some imperfections may be permanent.
Why do my lenses become discolored?
Headlights, like your car's paint, have a clear coat that deteriorates over time due to sun exposure, especially if your car is parked in direct sunlight regularly. Over time, the clear coat breaks down and turns into an unsightly yellow layer.
How do I keep my headlights looking good?
Maintaining clear headlights can be challenging. Regular waxes and sealants provide limited protection. Parking your car in the shade can help prolong their clarity. Applying a sealant or wax to your headlights every 3 to 5 weeks can help maintain their appearance, and it only takes about 15 minutes to do.
Why should I have this service?
It's important to consider headlight restoration not just for aesthetics, but for safety as well. When your headlights are fogged up due to a deteriorated clear coat, it significantly reduces your visibility at night and during adverse weather conditions. This can compromise your safety on the road.
Additionally, if your headlights are in particularly bad condition, they will be tested at an MOT Centre, which could result in a failure. Ensuring your headlights are clear and functioning properly is crucial not only for your driving experience but also for passing vehicle inspections. Having this service done can help you avoid these issues and keep your car in compliance with safety standards.
