Clent mud, the Junction car park and the A491 to the M5
Stourbridge has the Clent Hills sitting off the A491 to the south-east and Kinver Edge a few miles west, and both get walked hard the whole year round. The paths at Nimmings Wood are red sandstone, so after rain they go to a fine orange slurry that comes home on boots, on the sills and in the boot. Left to dry into the carpet it stains, and by then a hoover is not enough.
That is why interior work is usually the right call around Norton, Pedmore and Oldswinford. An Interior Deep Clean from £76 is extraction, steam and leather care rather than a tidy-up, which is what red sandstone in the carpet pile actually needs. Dogs come with it - pet hair removal runs at £25 an hour, because bonded hair in seat fabric is slow manual work and we would rather quote it honestly.
The other half of Stourbridge drives a lot of motorway. Stourbridge Junction works as a park-and-ride for Birmingham and Worcester, so cars sit in the station car park all day, and south of Pedmore the A491 runs through Hagley and down to junction 4 of the M5 at Lydiate Ash, dual carriageway for part of the way. That mix gives you traffic film you can feel with the back of your hand, brake dust welded into the alloy faces and tar flecks along the lower doors. There are plenty of older, well-kept cars in the quieter streets off Norton Road and around Wollaston and Iverley - used at weekends and parked under a tree the rest of the time. Worth saying plainly: Stourbridge is well served already. There are detailers here working out of proper units, and if you are happy to drop the car off for a couple of days that is a good option. Neighbourhoods and practicalities
We cover the whole of Stourbridge and the villages the DY postcodes pull in with it - Oldswinford, Norton and Gig Mill, Pedmore, Wollescote, Lye and Stambermill, Wollaston, Amblecote and Wordsley, plus Stourton, Iverley, Hagley and Kinver out on the DY7 and DY9 edges. It is a town of two halves for our purposes. Norton, Pedmore, Iverley and the streets off the Wollaston Farm estate, laid out around Kingsway from the early 1950s, mostly have off-road parking, which is the easy end - room for the van, room to work round all four sides of the car, and a socket by the back door.
The terraced streets are the ones to think about before you book. Around Lye, Stambermill and the older parts of Wollescote and Amblecote you are on kerbside parking with no off-road space, and that changes two things. We need a legal, safe spot alongside the car for a few hours, and we need mains power - an extension lead out of a front window or through a hallway is normal and we work that way often. Water is never the issue because we carry our own Spotless Water deionised supply. Flats near the ring road are the hardest case, and if there is nowhere workable it is simpler to move the car to a relative's drive for the day.
Coating work has a bigger footprint again. It cannot go on in rain, so those jobs run under a 6x3m gazebo, and the car stays where it is overnight while the coating hardens. That needs a driveway with space around it and somewhere the car can sit undisturbed until morning. Paint Correction from £280 is the cutting stage, Stage 1 up to about 75% defect removal, with Stage 2 to around 85% quoted per car. We do not offer Stage 3 wet sanding. Ceramic coatings are from £350 for the 2-year graphene, from £475 for the 5-year and from £550 for the Reign 10H 7-year, and every one of those includes full decontamination and a Stage 1 machine polish before the coating goes on.
